Even on the liberal side, there are factions and wild extremisms that I doubt many "conservative liberals" would even recognize. Did you ever read Slavoj Zizek, whose "liberal" views are so far to the left that they hedge the totalitarian right? Anti-democratic and pro-Stalinist, they freely endorse a worldwide revolution of violence against the "evil" of American-style democracy. Most of us liberals - myself included - would do well to remember that this is not a battle between the Sons of Darkness and the Sons of Light. That's conservative talk, son!
